International consultancy and authoring

Dr Robert Illes has over 15 years' experience providing value to clients in the engineering and construction sectors. He has travelled the world, from Poland to India to the USA, working for major consultancies and clients. Projects have involved creating documentation for outdoor media, mining, oil and gas, and low carbon power.

Robert has authored operation and quality manuals, procurement processes and curated large strategic projects such as feasibility study reports, EPC contracts and DCO planning documents. His vision is to create strong, cohesive operations, whether in small teams or for international organisations.

Education, teaching and research

Dr Robert Illes started professional life 30 years' ago as a physics teacher. He then completed a PhD in physics education, conducting original research on teachers' conceptual understanding of energy. This early phase gave him a solid grounding in education, quantitative and qualitative research.

More recently, Dr Robert has gone back to guest lecturing, developing training and undertaking strategic advisory on subjects such as modern methods of construction and sustainability in procurement. You may also find him speaking on the construction industry conference circuit, undertaking STEM Ambassador activities, or contributing to the work of the Construction Leadership Council's Skills for a Modernised Industry sub-group.
